AN ELIXIR
STEEPED IN HISTOIRY
Exclusive Ratafia Champenois traces its origins back to the centuries-old traditions of Champagne. This natural liqueur, crafted from the three prestigious grape varieties (Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier) and eau-de-vie, was once enjoyed in the grandest brasseries of Paris.
The word “Ratafia” is said to come from “ratify”: in the 19th century, nobles and bourgeois would toast with this liqueur to seal their contracts.
After nearly disappearing following the War, this Champagne specialty is reborn today thanks to the passion of French sommelier Alexandre Wagner.
Alexandre Dumas described it as “an incomparable Elixir.”

THE FOUNDER ALEXANDRE WAGNER
Graduated in 1992 from the prestigious Beaune School of Sommellerie, Alexandre Wagner has dedicated his career to discovering the finest products of french wine heritage around the world.
Former sommelier of "Grand Jury Européen" alongside François Mauss and renown tasters such as Michel Bettane and Bernard Burtschy, and participant in the prestigious Villa d'Este Wine Symposium in Italy (Lake Como) as sommelier and technical director, Alexandre Wagner has recognised expertise in exceptional spirits, wines and Champagnes.
In 2016, captivated by the liqueur that Alexandre Dumas called an "incomparable elixir", he partnered with Maison Goyard to revive Exclusive Ratafia champenois and restore its noble glory.
His mission: to introduce the world to this historic french specialty that once graced the finest tables of Paris.
